Intimate relationships can be quite prickly at times!

The key element in couples work is the cultivation of empathy - developing a deep appreciation for (not to be confused with "agreement with") what it is like to see the world through your partner's eyes. As empathic regard deepens, couples are also offered practical problem-solving strategies, as well as training in communication and negotiation skills.
In addition to core relationship work, related specific issues are addressed though couples counseling. Areas that couples often choose to focus on include the challenge of sustaining sexual intimacy, expanding parenting skills, and maximizing the pleasure of free time together.
When the situation calls for it, offering support in working through the ending of a relationship is a service I offer as well. This work is particularly recommended for divorcing parents who aspire to collaborate effectively in the raising of their children.
